Following the publication of Superlist Health 2020, several supermarkets have now requested a meeting with the health funds and the Ministry for Health, Welfare and Sport to discuss possible improvements.
Superlist Health provides supermarkets insight into opportunities to improve their policies, product assortment, offers and shop layout to help their customers making a healthy food choice. The fact that several supermarkets have now requested meetings is hopeful.
State Secretary for Health, Welfare and Sport Mr. Blokhuis, takes the research findings very seriously. In the Volkskrant (one of the major Dutch national newspapers) and in the written consultations with the House of Representatives, he states that as a direct responds to Superlist, he has been asked by National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) to investigate the need for additional measures and how supermarkets can be more efficiently monitored on progress.
Blokhuis states that he now wants to have progress on the Prevention Agreement independently monitored. He also announces het would discuss the findings of Superlist Health in the 'Prevention Agreement consultation' with representation of the supermarkets (CBL) and the health funds.
