In order to cope with the various crises to which our food system contributes, the Dutch Council for Integrated Sustainable Agriculture and Nutrition (RIDLV) makes a series of recommendations to the key players in the food system. In addition to advising the government, the food industry and higher education, the Council also addresses supermarkets: make the healthy choice the easy choice for consumers. And pay a higher price to farmers who score well on triple health.
To NGOs the council advices: "Develop a joint vision on a triple healthy food system. Integrate the environment, nature, animal welfare, health and human rights. Help Questionmark to broaden its benchmark from supermarkets to the food industry and to socio-economic conditions of farmers and employees in the chain. Keep putting pressure on supermarkets to pay farmers who produce for a triple health concept an adequate additional price."
