In the United Kingdom, two Superlists have been published in which a smaller number of indicators were researched on food promotions. In Superlist Environment, meat promotions were researched in supermarkets. Superlist Health compares price promotions for unhealthy products in the supermarkets. These Superlists compare the following supermarkets: Asda, Morrisons, Sainsbury's and Tesco.
Interesting findings
Three quarters of meat promotions encourage the sale of more than one product, known as multibuy promotions. Furthermore, about half of the food promotions target unhealthy products. The Guardian, one of the largest national Newspapers in the UK, wrote an article about this research: “UK supermarkets accused of ‘bombarding’ shoppers with cheap meat”.
