The Beter Leven kenmerk (BLk) of the Dierenbescherming imposes requirements on, among other things, living space, physical interventions and possibilities for laying hens to display natural behavior. Laying hens with 2 stars BLk live with a maximum of 9 chickens on 1 m² of shed, with a ground cover on which chickens can roam. In addition, each chicken has 4 m² of outside space. There is a maximum of 6000 laying hens together in a room. The beaks of the chickens are not cut down. | |||
